U-M Students
Begin UJA Drive

U-1111 Hillel Fund to Host
Israeli Zionism Specialist

Solicitation for the Uni-
versity of Michigan Student
United Jewish Appeal
Campaign began with a
telethon and person-to-
person solicitation in the
dorms.
In preparation for this
year's campaign, solicita-
tion was preceded by: A
cocktail reception for last
year's "Big Givers" ($18 or
more), a public showing of
the Israeli film "I Love You
Rosa" and a solicitor train-
ing session led by Irwin Al-
terman of the Detroit
Jewish Welfare Federation.
The goal of the campaign
is to raise $10,000, an in-
crease over last year's
$8,500. Seventy-five per-
cent of the monies raised
over the goal are to be used
for U.J.A.'s Project Re-
newal.
The steering committee
includes: Sandy
Starkman, chairman;
Alan • Abrahams,
Jonathan Bilmes, Carol
Brown, Davida Fromm,
Marla Gordon, Pam Lip-
pitt, Jeff Liskar, Rochelle
