At his earlier meetings
with Barre and Poncet,
Dayan briefed the French
leaders on the current
status of the peace process
and the Middle East situa-
tion generally. But these
discourses on the ministe-
rial level were seen as an
exercise in protocol, as
neither side expected to

Earlier, Dayan told a de-
legation of French Jews
that Israel "will never ac-
cept the creation of a Pales-
tinian state" because such a
state would "affect the fu-
ture of the state of Israel
and jeopardize its exis-
tence." He also insisted that
Israel would never agree to
give up its settlements on
the West Bank or the right
to establish new
- settle-

Addressing the banquet
at the Quai Dorsay Monday
night, Dayan said, "We are

ZOA Launches 17th Year
of Student Summer Programs

NEW YORK — The Is-
rael summer programs of
the Zionist Organization of
America, open to high
school and college students,
'will enter their 17th year
this season. •
According to Mel "Galun,
director of the ZOA youth
department and associate
director of the ZOA, five Is-
rael summer programs will
be offered.
The most popular of these
are the teen programs. The
teenage camp is located on
the campus of Kfar Silver
near Ashkelon, and is a
42-day visit of youngsters
age•13 and 14. The teenage
tour is also for 42 days and is
for youth age 15 through 17.
A leadership training
course is run by Masada,
the ZOA Youth Move-
ment, for youth (age 16
-19), who have shown
leadership potential and
is increasingly popular.
The exclusive 44-day
program whose specially
screened participants
face a physically de-
manding stay in Israel-is
organized in indepen-
dent groups of 30.
This year, for the first
time, a 44-day leadership
training institute, has been
added. In addition- to the
physical requirements, this
group also seeks high intel-
lectual standards. Both
programs provide intensive
tours of Israel.
The fifth program,
"Summer in Moshav," is 52
days in duration and is de-
signed for college students.
In addition to the intensive
touring provided, particip-
ants spend several weeks
living in the home of a

criticized by their own stu-
dents or by religious cir-
cles." He observed that
these governments "have
now found out that contrary
to what they had imagined
before, they cannot rely on
the U.S. to support them in
internal matters."
Dayan said Israel is
also "seriously worried"
about the future of Iran's
80,000 Jews who may
have to face "both hostile
policies and hostile mobs.
He said that the stoppage
of Iranian oil shipments
was the least of Israel's
worries because it ex-
pects Egypt to agree to
sell oil from the Sinai
fields. The Israeli dip-
lomat met with French
Premier Raymond Barre
and Foreign Minister
Jean Francois-Poncet.
He was feted by Poncet at
a banquet in his honor
