The Spectres of Ashkelon,
Israel, are the brother and
sister-in-law of Adat
Shalom's rabbi, Efry
Spectre.
The weekend will com-
mence with an oneg Shabat
8 p.m. Dec. 8. The Spectres
will meet with the
synagogue's youth groups
in the youth lounge. The
topic of the oneg Shabat ses-
sion will be "Areas of Con-
flict in Moial Values."
During Shabat morn-
ing services the Spectres
will lecture to the con-
gregation on "The Two
Jacobs — Is Conserva-
tive Judaism Valid and
Necessary for an Israeli
Jew?" After services they
will answer questions on
their lecture at a lunch-
eon hosted by the sister-
hood and men's club and
sponsored by member
families. Attendance at
the luncheon is by reser-
vation only. ,
At 11 a.m. Dec. 10, the
Spectres will show the
men's club a videotape from

an Israeli television pro-
gram on Israeli Conserva-
tive Judaism which fea-
tured Rabbi Spectre's con-
gregation.
Rabbi Philip Spectre,
born in Buffalo, N.Y.,
attended Buffalo Hebrew
College. He was graduated
from New York's Columbia
College and received his
BHL and MHL at the
Jewish Theological Semi-
nary of America. Rabbi
Spectre, ordained in 1967, is
the spiritual leader of Cong.
Netsach Israel in Ashkelon.
He is president of the
Rabbinical Assembly in Is-
rael. He has been the
-spokesman on television
and international conclaves
for the furtherance of the
work of the Conservative
movement.
His wife, Barbara, re-
ceived her Hebrew educa-
tion in the Chicago area.
She was graduated from
New York's Barnard Col-
lege and received her mas-
ter's degree in philosophy
from New York University.
She also attended the
Teachers Institute of the
Jewish Theological Semi-
nary.
