Israeli Tourists Visit Cairo . • . Shape of Things to Come?

By DAVID SCHWARTZ

It's a strange world. Im-
mediately following the
termination of the Camp
David meetings, there was a
report of an "invasion" of
Egypt by Israelis and no one
seemed concerned. Egypt in
fact welcomed it. What's

Tourists promote good
will. Every tourist is a
kind of messenger of
peace. Israel too may
benefit from Egyptian
tourists. I am sure Israel

happening to the world?
Well, this proposed "inva
sion" was a little different.
The Israelis weren't going
with guns. Some of them
would be "armed" with
cameras. They are just a
flock of tourists out to see
the sights of Egypt, espe-
cially the Pyramids.
After all, Jews at one time
lived in Egypt. And we owe
a good deal to them. With-
out them, we would not
have matzo ball soup or
even matzot.
Egypt will probably see a
good deal of this kind of in-
vasion by Jewish tourists,
not only from Israel, but
from all parts of the world.
Jews are great travelers
and the tourist business in
Cairo should boom.

Raskin, Jewish News

The tourist brings peace
and Egypt needs peace
sorely. It presently spends
about one-third of its budget
on things military. The use
of this money for construc-
tive purposes should relieve
at least some of the great
economic distress of that
country.
