James Caan Directs
And Acts in New Film

By HERBERT LUFT

(Copyright 1978, JTA, Inc.)

Lady," "Silent Movie," and
I "Freebie and the Bean."
He was a charming crook
in "Harry and Walter Go To
New York," and hard as
nails in "Killer Elite" and
the futurist "Rollerball."
In Joe Levine's "A Bridge
Too Far" he was an Ameri-
can G.I. in World War II; in
Claude Lelouche's "Another
Man, Another Chance," a
Western hero of 100 years
ago. •
In the still unreleased
movie, "Comes A Horse-
man," he plays the part of
a World War II veteran
seeking peace as a cow-
boy in Montana only to be
involved in a fight to the
finish for his land and his
life.
Actually, Caan loves the
land and likes nothing bet-
ter than working with
horses and cattle. He is an
expert rider and roper and,
when not engaged in film
assignments, moves around
the country as a rodeo per-
former. He is a member of
the Professional Rodeo
Cowboy's' Association.

JANET MARGOLIN
co-stars with Roy Scheider
in United Artist's "Last
Embrace," the story of a
man unraveling a mysteri-
ous threat upon his life, and
of the woman who becombs
involved in his puzzle. "The
dramatic yarn, from a novel
by journalist Murray Thigh
Bloom and a screenplay by
David Shaber, has been
completed on locations in
New York, Princeton,
Niagara Falls, with inter-
iors in Hollywood studios.
This is Ms. Margolin's
first ,starring role in many
years. Born and educated in
New York City, the young
lady was discovered as a
teenager when playing the
lead of "Daughter of Si-
lence," on Broadway, a role
she had won immediately
upon graduation from New
York's High School of Per-
forming Arts.
In recent years, she came
back into the studios to
work in TV on "Portrait of a
Mistress" and the soon-to-
be-aired "The Great
Triangle Disaster;" also as
the wife on a limited
comedy-series, "Lannigan's
Rabbi." In Woody Allen's
Academy-Award winning
"Annie Hall," she portrayed
Woody's second wife.
