ANNUAL
24th

House, will have comedian

AN ELEGANT Italian
dinner for two with wine,
flowers and eight courses,
plus two entrees and two
desserts, was the recent
gourmet evening by Dave
Fekay at Kingsley Inn on
Woodward . . . a flaming
good time in culinary dining
. . . $150 for two.
NO MORE CORDOBA
. New name as of tonight
is Pedro's of Mexico .. .
Same ownership, but now a
very authentic Mexican res-
taurant on W. Seven Mile,
west of Middlebelt.
Up until 5 p.m., Cordoba
will be a regular dining spot
as always . . . then like
magic, the transition will be
made.
We were among a few
people on hand at a taste-
testing trial of the food pre-
pared by Maria Meza Shaf-
fron, of whom there are very
few better true Mexican
food kitchen supervisors.
Pedro's of Mexico will
have three kinds of sauces
put on all tables . . . mild,
medium and very hot . .
Serving will be done with
all the authenticity avail-
able in the no-stops-barred,
all-out effort of owner Mar-
vin Zawideh.
The taste-testing was
supervised by Chef Joseph,
restaurant consultant, who
is handling the change over.
Botana appetizer was
nachos with cheese, vegeta-
bles and ground beef .. .
Then Caldo Del Res (chic-
ken soup with plenty of veg-'
etables) . . . Milanesa
(breaded strip sirloin
Plan Your Next Affair At
sauteed in oil with a tomato
milanesa topping) . . . Pes-
cado la Veracruzana (white
fish like you've never had
before — extremely delici-
ous — something we'd order
before anything else) .. .
Guacamole extremely tasty
and not wet or soggy but
owning a choice consistency
. . . Refried Beans with a
distinctively different taste
we've never encountered be-
fore . . . Mexican Rice with
tomato sauce and green
pepper.
Throughout the meal
were glasses of Sangria
wine. •
Then came what Chef
Joseph refers to as one of the
Mexican fun foods . . . Tacos
. . . and if you like Tacos,
you've never eaten them
better anywhere else then
the way Maria makes them.
We also had a select inci-
dent . . . For only the second
time, our coffee was poured
with a dish facing us to pre-
vent steam from coming our
way . . . This was done by
waitress Karen Mitchell
who is learning fast how to
become a customer favorite.
Two pastries were served,
both made on the premises,
as are all the tortillas.
The food tasting experi-
ence at Pedro's of Mexico
was exceptionally good .. .
If this was an indication of
things to be then the former
Cordoba will become an in-
stant winner in its new
dress. -
ARTICLE IN LOCAL
metropolitan paper told of
Larry Michelson and
Leonard Simons in business
together almost 50 years .. .
Harry Platt saw the item
with Simons supposedly
saying, "We're like ham and
eggs" . . . Under the accom-
panying picture he typed a
piece of paper, put it by their
names to read, "Larry
Michelson (left) and
Leonard Simons — like
bagels and lox." . . . and sent
it to them.
