Humor Flavored ReCipes in Celebrity Kosher Cookbook'
When recipes are flavored
with humor it's an added
guarantee of palatability.
This is the provision
available in "Celebrity
Kosher Cookbook," first
published in 1975 and now
available as a paperback
from J.P. Tarcher, Los
Angeles publisher.
The combined efforts
of the compilers of this
book are interesting. The
authors are Marilyn Hall
and Rabbi Jerome Cu-
tler.
The many recipes were
tested by Ruth Greenwold, a
lecturer in gourmet cooking
at UCLA.
Rabbi Cutler wrote an
appended essay in this vol-
ume on kashrut.
Contributing recipes to
this volume were many
noted actors, writers, politi-
cians, motion picture and
TV stars and sports figures.
Such names as Art
Buchwald, Milton Berle,
Sen. Jacob Javits, Bar-
bara Walters, Totie

NEW YORK — The 81st
national convention of the
Zionist Organization of
America will be held in
Washington, D.C., Wednes-
day through Sept. 10, under
the theme, "In Solidarity
with Israel."
The ZOA Convention
coincides with the historic
meeting at Camp. David,
Maryland, of Israel Prime
Minister Menahem Begin,
U.S. President Carter and
Egyptian President Sadat.
The Shoreham-
Americana Hotel is conven-
tion headquarters. Among
the Israelis who will ad-
dress the convention are
Simha Dinitz, Israel am-
bassador to the United
States; Yitzhak Modai, Is-
rael minister of energy and
infrastructure; Yehuda
Blum, Israel ambassador to
the United Nations and
Leon Dulzin, chairman of
the Jewish Agency Execu-
tive and World Zionist
Organization.
Israel Prime Minister
Menahem Begin has been
invited to address the
Convention and has indi-
cated his interest, "if the
meetings at Camp David
allow."

asked for a demitasse.
The waiter brought the
coffee in a large cup. My
wife said, "Waiter, I ordered
a demitasse."
The waiter, unflinching,
said, "So, drink just a little."
If you go into a kosher res-
taurant, the best dishes are
the openers — chopped
liver, derma, lungen stew,
pickled herring, and so on.
The main dishes are not
usually good. The chicken
soup is always good, but by
the time the same chicken is
broiled or roasted as a main
dish, it's already dried out
and has lost its flavor. This
wisdom, which took me
many years to acquire, you
now have in one short para-
graph.
