-COCKTAILS IGEN WINE. I

BUILT IN 1927, the Fox
and Hounds on Woodward
in Bloomfield Hills is an
exact replica of its
namesake in England.
One of the strongest at-
tractions at Fox and Hounds
is the decor . . . The leaded
glass window panes are
spotted with imported En-
glish "bullseye" glass, the
beams are rough-hewn oak,
the wrought iron fixtures
are from some English cas-
tle . .. and the tables are
all heavy dark wood with-
out tablecloths.
Time was when the food
at Fox and Hounds was
strictly English in charac-
ter . .. Specialties included
roast beef, naturally; beef
steak and kidney pie,
broiled Rock Cornish game
hen, Green Springs brook
trout, seared lamb chops
and grilled calf s liver.
It has changed from the
quiet, elegant spot of years
ago . . . Now people wait
for their table in the noisy
Foxes Den where you may
have a drink or two while
waiting a half-hour for the
table youoreserved
Very competent and charm-
ing Lori Hardig did her ut-
most to please and certainly
succeeded as our Foxes Den
waitress.
When our turn came,
the hostess took us to a
table next to oodles of
stacked dirty dishes near
a coffee station . . . Not
wanting to sit there, we
showed her a couple of
empty booths and she
snippily remarked that
they were assigned to
others . . . However,
when leaving, our party
was stopped and taken to
a very pleasant, airy
booth that met
everyone's immediate
satisfaction.
Our cordial, efficient and
pleasant waitress, Sandy
