troit area residents are
scheduled to be tested for
polybrominated biphenyls
(PBB) contamination dur-
ing a six-day clinic which
concludes Sunday at Sinai
Hospital of Detroit. As a
general community service,
Sinai will provide its
Shiffman Clinic's facilities
for this testing program.
The tests will be con-
ducted by a staff of 35 medi-
cal personnel including

3 tbsps. sugar
V2 cup oil
1 cup flour
Beat eggs, sugar and oil at
high speed for 20 minutes.
Add flour and continue boat-
ing 10 minutes longer. Drop
from teaspoon on well greased
cookie sheet about two inches
apart. Sprinkle a little sugar on
top of each cookie. Bake at 350
degrees for one-half hour or
until nicely brown.

Laboratory of New York's
Sinai School of
Mt.
Medicine.
The New York-based
group was asked by the
Michigan State Legisla-
ture, under the auspices
of the Department of
Public Health, to take
charge of testing Michi-
gan residents for possible
adverse health effects
from PBB, as part of a
Michigan General Popu-
lation Health Survey. The
group has conducted two
clinics to date, testing 500
persons from the Grand
Rapids - Kalamazoo area.
The people were ran-
domly selected by computer
at the University of Michi-
gan's Institute for Social
Research.

Sinai Conducts PBB Tests

I urge everyone to write a short and polite letter to
Leonid Brezhnev expressing concern for Anatoly
Shcharanski andAlexander Ginsberg and to ask
for their release. Letters from business firms, civic
groups and public officials are especially impor-
tant.
