readily afford.
The sandwiches are all
huge, but Sammy's Super
Triple Decker (pastrami,
corned beef, Swiss
cheese, Russian dressing,
toast) is big enough for
two people to eat.
No, Sammy and Marty
don't serve everything on
paper plates . . . and people
come from all over to eat his
food . . . swearing by his
place as one of a kind.
DANCING HAS arrived
at the Detroit Plaza's Celeb-
ration Lounge with the
disco music of Celebrity,
performing back-to-back
with the show group, The
Forum Delegation, until
July 29 . . . The latter's-
musical repertoire ranges
from the Big Band era to
popular ballads.
Celebration Lounge is lo-
cated at the base of the at-
rium on Promenade Level
in the Detroit Plaza Hotel.
THEY SAY THAT good
things come in small pac-
kages . . . This is doubly
true of Little Hungaria, 12
Mile, about three blocks
west of Greenfield.
So very clean, quietly in-
timate with soft
background music, and very
good Hungarian dishes au-
thentically prepared and
served by the owners them-
selves . .. Sonia and Bob
Szakal . . . Having the
owners do the cooking and
dishing out seems to give
that at-home atmosphere
which is conducive to a
pretty good feeling . . .
There's no skimping on food
at Little Hungaria and ev-
erything is so very fresh.
We thoroughly enjoyed
our vegetable soup and Beef
Goulash (tasty chunks over
a bed of little dumplings)
. . . Bob also makes a
Goulash Bogras, which is
more soup-like with beef
and vegetables .. . Their

entire menu of authentic
Hungarian dishes has been
receiving much acclaim
from people who know food
of this ethnic culture.
Everything from the
linen tablecloths and nap-
kins to the graciousness and
tasty food at Little Hun-
garia is most delightful . .
It literally oozes with pleas-
antness with each moment
spent there.
-THERE'S A DIFFER-
ENCE now at Adam's Rib,
Greenfield and 10 Mile .. .
with owner Bill Kim taking
over the kitchen and mak-
ing things to order . . . Ask
for your carry-out crisp now
and that's what you get . . .
Bill's variety of chicken
(from two to 500 pieces) is
getting raves . . and his
ribs are much better than
before . . . Make note of
how you want your food
from Adam's Rib . . . it's
made to order now
however you tell them is
how you'll receive it, says
Bill.
BUBBY'S CARRY-
OUT deli and 28-seater . . .
more or less a fast-food de-
licatessen, will be open in
about 10 weeks on South-
field and 12% Mile.
P'JAZZ AT the Pontch
this week will have Lonnie
Liston Smith on Monday,
and Chico Hamilton on
Wednesday . . . Starting
time for both concerts will
be 6:30. . . General admis-
sion tickets can be purch-
ased after 5 p.m. at the en-
trance to Hotel Pontchart-
rain's poolside terrace . . .
$4 for Smith and $3.50 for
Hamilton.
WHEN A KID ON a
bike, Bob Newman would
tell about going to Darbys
Restaurant when he grew
up . . . Bob has grown up,
lives in Howell, Mich. and
can now have- his dream
come true.
Although it isn't the same
Darbys of yesteryears for-
merly owned by Sam
Boesky (who has no affilia-
tion with the present one)
that burned down in 1968,
on W. Seven Mile Road, the
new Darbys has opened on
Pontiac Trail, about a block
south of 15 Mile Rd. in Wal-
led Lake.
The free-standing 100-
seater, only two miles from
the Jewish Community
Center, is also the only deli
that we know of with a ban-
quet room (about 200) .
In fact, when the room isn't
booked, any organization
can use it at no charge.

staurant has separate

facilities, each with diffe-
rent help to expedite
things faster.
Products being used are
Kosher Zion and David
Berg out of Chicago.
The menu is different
than that of the old Darbys,
and may be recognizable to
many people. . . (Hint as to
ownership: "Our service is
fast! No matter how long it
takes" and "Eating here can
be habit forming!")
Reason why the name
Darbys can be used again is
because Sam's attorney
neglected to renew the
name, which must be done
at intervals . . . and the
present new owners were
alert enough to-pick it, up.
Darbys Deli is open
seven days a week . . . to
10 p.m. daily except Fri-
day and Saturday which
is til 2 a.m. . .. a lot of
parking front and rear.
Somebody must have
known something about the
location . . . a K-Mart
Shopping Center will break
ground in back around Sept.
