FOREIGN FOODS are
tempting to the palate and
folks don't have to leave the
U.S. to enjoy European
specialties.
Wicker Works in the
Northfield Hilton, Crooks
Rd. and 1-75 are attempting
to whisk tastebuds on a
foreign adventure via their
International Night celeb-
rations . . . Tonight, Frit-
tura Piccata and Scampi
Italiano will be the featured
entrees during Buona Festa
Italiana . . served from 6.
to 10 p.m. and priced from
$9.50.
Future menus will pre-
sent the cuisihes of Poland
(Aug. 4), Scandinavia (Sept.
1), France (Sept. 29) and
Great Britain (Oct. 27) .
Costumed waiters, wait-
resses and native music will
add to the festive atmos-
phere.
Reservations are advised.
PICADILLY DELI re-
staurant in the Raleigh
House will be a private eat-
ery for Shriners and their
friends and relatives, says
Moslem Shrine Potentate
Billy Semanson.
Raleigh House under the
Moslem Shrine will con-
tinue to have catering
facilities for all . . . with
previous Raleigh House
head, Bronca Lucas, con-
tinuing at the realm.
HAVE YOU tried the
liver and onions at Gallery
on 10 Mile east of Everg-
reen?
MOSLEM TEMPLE's
trip to Israel and Egypt or
just Israel is set for Oct. 19
. . . with as many Crescent
Shrine members as possible
urged to attend . . . Call
Harry Kramer, 642-4111.
YOU'D THINK THE
Detroit Tigers had won the
World Series, or were even
close to the top in their divi-
sion from the way Dave

Everything you could
possibly want in Oriental '
cuisine . . . under one roof!
staurateur supreme, Dave
is promoting a show of sup-
port for localites to get be-
hind a "Detroit Tiger Day"
. . . Imagine every motorist
and trucker with their
lights on, stickers, buttons,
a thousand . Tiger balloons
released from the Detroit
Plaza at 12 noon . . . bells
tolling all over and so much
more . . . If the Tigers don't
start winning after a fan
display like this, those kids
won't be able to show their
faces around town.
TERRIBLE THING by
local caterer. . forgetting
something so very impor-
tant as having an item on
the sweet table that is tradi-
tional at all simchas by the
parents whose son was
being married . . . His
right hand gal knew that
halava was missing, but
neglected to let him know.
"WE PLAYED the role
to perfection," says Marge
Robbins about she and
hubby Jerry at Fidelman's
in South Haven being called
up to the stage by ven-
triloquist Wayne Rowland
. . . We were his dum-
mies."
CARL STEGER at
Jakks is about the only
pianist we know in town
that can play and sing Al
Hibler's great hit tune of
some years ago, "My Little
Brown Book." . . . Carl's
Ellington renditions are ex-
cellent.
ONE OF THE BEST lit-
tle hamburgers is at Al-
bert's Grand River near
Outer Drive.
CHARLEY BANNIS-
TER, popular musician and
founder-director of the De-
troit Drum School, has
trained many noted musical
artists . . . Charley is a
master percussionist and
among the best ever in De-
troit . . . The school had its
second annual recital at the
Northwest Activities
Center (former Jewish
Center), Meyers and Curtis.
RUMOR SQUELCH-
ING DEPT.. . No truth
whatsoever that Club
Berkley on Woodward has
been sold . . . It is still
owned very much so by
Freda and Frank Bedient
. . . who continue to do a
wonderful job with the food
served there.
WONDER WHY . . .
Some waiters and waitres-
ses don't wear deodorant?
. . . A northwest hotel tells
people they're all jammed
up to the walls . . . espe-
cially during a convention
. . . and then makes big
shots out of those who can
get rooms with the right
phone call? . . . Some
people don't give a place at
least a second chance before
making derogatory re-
marks? . . . first time could
have been during the open-
ing when service and food
were at a too fast track . . .
and in many instances, also,
the chef has been changed
for the better.
