Lillian had been retired
from the Detroit Board of
Education. 100 guests
attended ihe roast that
made her face red . . . but
with tears of joy and laugh-
ter . . Lillian's last day of
work is today.

June 21, same day as their
testimonial dinner, was also
her birthday . . . as a cake
was brought out and
everyone sang "Happy
Birthday" to Florence.
AFTER PRESENTA-
TION of diplomas at the
West Bloomfield Jewish
Center nursery, all
graduates and parents par-
ticipated in an oneg Shabat
. . . For this portion of the
program, graduates' caps
were replaced by the special
felt yarmulkes for boys and
head coverings for girls that
had been made by the clas-
ses during a recent art
period . . Blessings over
the candles, wine and halls
were led by five-year-old
Darren Avig, son of Penny
and Stuart Avig and grand-
son of Lillian Hellman . .
The pre-schoolers enter-
tained and the oneg Shabat
concluded with a sweet
table prepared by Joyce
Epstein, nursery super-
visor, who says, "Many of
the best chefs in West
Bloomfield are the Jewish
Center nursery children." ,
BIG BIG SORRY . . . to
our mom, Mrs. Minnie Ras-
kin. . for not saying
HAPPY. BIRTHDAY on
her great day last week.

Gavin has been named co-
chairman of the $5.5 million
campaign to build the first
Jewish chapel at the U.S.

TEL AVIV (JTA) — The
first Bedouin moshav in Is-
rael, located in the Raffiah
salient has been officially
dedicated. It will house 100
Bedouin families who were
dislodged from their tradi-
tional sites when the land
was expropriated for Jewish
settlements.
