Q. Who has the best
perch? A. Our two favorites
are, consistently, The Gol-
den Lion on Moross, De-
troit, and Jacoby's — since
1904 on Brush St. in De-
troit.
Q. Who serves up the best
frog legs? A. The tiny, tiny
variety, (not easy to come by
these days) are a succulent
treat at the Club Berkley
on Woodward at 11 1/2 Mile
Rd.
Q. What is, in your opin-
ion, the best after dinner
drink? A. Unquestionably,
The Hummer! It's a sublime
blend of ice cream, Kahlua,
whatever; (hopefully,
Hagen-Dasz ice cream .. .
the best ice cream in the
best of all possible worlds).
Anyway, run, do not walk,
to the London Chop
House or the Golden
Mushroom to sample this
lovely confection.
Q. The best martini? A. If
you want to coddle your
brains a la quick and please
your taste buds at the same
time, we have three

the best fish chowder? A.
Haab's in Ypsilanti — go

Q. Who has the best salad
bar? A. Especially during
the summer months, The
Push Cart Cafe where all
the sparkling vegies,
cheeses, etc. are brought in
from the Eastern Market to
The Push Cart which is
right smack in the middle of
the market.
Q. What restaurant has
the most imaginative decor?
A. Jerry Shoenith's Jerry's
Marine Bar, at the River-
front; it's totally eclectic
with a madcap, nostalgic/

nautical theme. The overall
decor (let alone the ladies'
room) is worth a trip.
Q. Which restaurants
boast the best modern de-
cor? A. The Double Eagle
on Rochester Rd. in Troy
(designed by Alexis Lahti)
and the tiny, ornamental
Bijou in Southfield. Both
smashing.
Q. Which two new re-
staurants are off to a run-
ning start? A. The Wel-
lington on Mack Avenue in
Grosse Pointe and Jacques
(formerly the Atrium, in
Southfield).
Q. Where can you go for a
truly delicious mussel din-
ner? A. The Cadieux Cafe.
Famed traveler George
Pierrot says, "The next best
