Spodalzing In Small
Unique Pardee

THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS
T
(Continued from Page 28)
eves . . . Al Cimarelli,
manager Wednesday
through Saturday evenings,
still does odd job outside
accordionist playing now
after 17 years with his own
trio . . . Topinka guests
loved him then and they
still do now ... He's a very
fine man.
IT MAY NOT YET be
summer, but don't tell re-
staurateur Chuck Muer
. . He just announced that
his Sidewalk Cafe at the
Hotel Pontchartrain opens
this Monday.
It's a real French-flavored
outdoor cafe on the Left
Bank (of the Detroit River
looking east) in keeping
with the French heritage of
the Hotel Pontchartrain.
Grand opening week,
May 22-26, will feature live
music, with the theme,
"Chuck Muer and the
Pontch bring you Paris."
For 12 years now the
annual opening of the
Sidewalk Cafe, with its
freshly planted flowers,
wrought iron tables and
chairs, and lighter lunch-
eon entrees, has signaled
summer's approach to
downtown Detroiters.
It will be open from 11:30
a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday
through Friday . . located
on the Jefferson Ave. side of
the hotel.
THERE'S A LOT IN
common between Margo
Cohen and Bunny Nicka-
min . . . They are sisters
and members of the Festival
Dancers, the dance dom-
pany in residence at the
Jewish Community Center
that will be celebrating its
10th anniversary this
Saturday and Sunday.
They both also enjoy jog-
ging, have each played lead-
ing roles since joining the
company eight years ago in
the many dance productions
that Festival Dancers have
toured with . . . Both are
mothers — Bunny has four
children, Margo three —
and they are the pretty
daughters of Ann and
Sammy Woolf.
RECENT CONCERT by
Pioneer Women at Labor
Zionist Institute, "Pasta
and Pagliacci", brought out
the talents of Dino Valle
and his International Revue
. . . Basic format contains
songs from most operas and
in many languages . . .
Russian, French, Yiddish,
Ukranian, Italian . . . folk
songs, show tunes from the
likes of Carousel and Fid-
dler On The Roof among so
many others . . . in solos,
duets and quartet.
Dino sings dramatic
tenor; Christine Lypecky,
mezzo soprano; Jan Rae,
coloratura soprano; Quinto
Milito, baritone, and
Chiara Delgiudice, pianist.
JOSE PEREZ SHOW,
with Jose toe-tripping and
playing for dancing, alter-
nates with the soft-and-easy
rock of Maurice Jiles'
Sounds, Inc., Monday
through Saturday at Don
Manasian's Back Door (the
old Mickey's Back Door) on
Korean—Mandarin
Michigan, one mile west of
Telegraph in Dearborn .
Manasian, an ex-Ford
Motor designer, took place
over about three months
ago, has a businessmen's
lunch trade and also re-
cently introduced a light
supper-type menu.
SOUTHERN COM-
FORT, six perky kids from
California, play top 40
tunes and dive into Roaring
Twenties material, com-
plete with costumes and
gusto, Tuesday through
Saturday at Dewey's in
Michigan Inn, J.L. Hudson
Dr.
SOMEBODY IS A BIT
mixed up at the Meadow-
brook Festival . . . Their
jazz series contains Four
Lads, Four Freshmen, Tony
Bennett, Fred Waring and
Helen Reddy ...Jim Taylor,
head of the Detroit Hot Jazz
Society could have given
some good sound advice.
MARSHA JO TEM-
MER, former Oak Park
High and Wayne Stater,
daughter of Shirley Freed,
will be at db's Club of the
Hyatt Regency in Dearborn,
June 5 through June 10,
with Tina Turner . . .
Marsha is one of the four
backups singing and danc-
ing with Tina.
THE WASHINGTON

That old reprobate L.J. Loophole
is at it again — plotting a fantastic
Sunday Brunch to captivate the
hearts of all. To insure freshness,
L. J . even convinced the hotel
manager to personally pick up —
a dazzling assortment of bagels:
Honest!
Cover one of those bagels
with L. J.'s cream-cheese-
and-lox spread. Journey afar
through his ever-changing
international specialties,
garnered from Budapest to Bos-
ton, complemented - with more
traditional fare. Will you have room
for the sweet table, laden with
cakes, tarts, cheeses and fruits?
Let gourmandizing gluttony over-
rule your temperateness. We
dare you! All-you-can-eat Brunch
served Sundays 11:30 a.m.
to 2:30 p.m. Adults $5.95,
kids 12 and under $2.95.
Please call for reservations:
