Rebroff Perforrns in Windsor
Before a Sell-Out Audience

Ivan Rebroff, the well-
known European basso pre-
sented a concert at the
Cleary Auditorium in Wind-
sor recently. marking his
third sold-out appearance in
Windsor.
Rebroff possesses an
excellent, well-trained basso
voice with an unusual range
of four octaves. He could
easily fulfill the most
demanding requirements of
a large and prestigious
opera house, yet he prefers
light-hearted concerts",
where he mesmerizes his
audiences with his extraor-
dinary showmanship, a win-
ning personality and diver-
sified programs, chosen to
please all kinds of ethnic
groups.
For more than three
years he sang - Tevye - in
the French production of
"Fiddler on the Roof" in
Paris.

In the Windsor concert he
and his four
instrumentalists presented
excerpts from "Anatevka"
and received special
applause after the rendition
of "A Yiddishe Mama" in
spite of the fact that many
people did not understand
the text. When he
introduced his fellow-musi-
cians he mentioned with
pride that the young man,
who was most proficient in
playing the accordion and
endowed with a beautiful
voice, was a Jewish emi-
grant, just out from the
Ukraine and in Canada for
the first time.

Rebroff knows how to cre-
ate exhilarating moods and
buoyant atmospheres until
the listeners, old and young
express their boundless
appreciation with repeated
and standing ovation.
