emy was arranged. This
was my eldest daughter's
first exposure to this group
of dedicated Hasidim.
She was so overwhelmed
by the enthusiasm and spir-
it of all those around her
that she wanted us to in-
vestigate the day school.
So, finally, after all the
years of avoiding the Hebr-
ew Academy, there I was, ,
enrolling my four children
into the school.
It is now one year later,
and as I look back, I have
nothing but positive state-
ments to make.

This was my children's
first year at the Hebrew
Academy. I had known all
about day schools, as I had
also attended one in Detroit
for many years as a child.
Yet, as a parent, I was re-
luctant to send my own chil-
dren to a parochial school,
for fear that they might be-
come "narrow-minded,"
brainwashed, - or many,
many other adjectives that
are used when speaking of
the Orthodox sect.
Another major concern of
Mine was the long bus ride
my children would endure
from Orange County to
Long Beach. 'I couldn't
imagine how they could sit
on a bus for more than an
hour each way without
being exhausted.
So, as a result of my own
personal doubts, my chil-
dren continued on with pub-
lic and afternoon Hebrew
school.
While attending a local
temple day camp, a field
