Michigan and Detroit
rank first in the nation in
the commercial value of
their commodities manufac-
tured for export.

Danny Raskin's

LISTENING
POST

IT'S TRUE THAT

the
Raleigh House has been
sold by Interstate United...
The Shriners bought it • for
$4 million . . . Interstate
originally purchased it for
$3 million, but made many
renovations, including the
addition of a completely
new wing. Information
comes from one of the for-
mer owners.
HARD TO BEAT the hors
d'oeuvres and salad for
lunch at the Rikshaw Inn.
Orchard Mall, Orchard
Lake Rd. and Maple. . .
Also, did you ever have a
Chinese Western Ome-
lette?.. It's made at Rik-
shaw and called Chow Don
...prepared in a wok...with
your chioce of Chinese vege-
tables, beef or chicken... Ex-
cellent, bustling waitress
Kathy Heath, with the reten-
tive memory for people like
ourselves, who like fresh
coffee in a clean cup,
brought us a very tasty
omelette with vegetables.
The dinners at Rikshaw
Inn are already in a class
by themselves. . .and the
lunches are now getting
there also, with people dis-
covering the gourmet foods
offered within a good price
range.
Early Bird Special contin-
ues at Rikshaw, with 25 per-
cent off on anything in the
way of food from 4 to 6
p.m. Monday through Satur-
day.
IF YOU WANT TO see
that new revolutionary In-
stadjust Basketball Goal
that grows higher as the
kids grow up, a few gents
you may know who have
one in the back yard in-
clude barrister Ronald Litt,
Allan Glasser, Ronnie For-
man and Bernie Dach. . .
The set-up, bossed by Al
and son Ron Foon and Lou
Schwartz, is perfect for
school gymnasiums and
playgrounds where only the
"big kids" get to use the
present ones . . . It's a natu-
ral for folks with growing
children.
Recent media presenta-
tion at Buddy's Pizza had 6-
foot-11 inch tall Bob Lanier,
after whom it is named,
demonstrating the sim-
plicity of its mechanics...
even though Bob can swish
the mesh at any height. .-
Instadjust is simply set in
seconds from regulation 10
feet down to six feet.
The pizza and Italian fare
at Buddy's Pizza, owned by
Billy and Bobby Jacobs on
Conant and McNichols, are
hard to beat. . .but the
sports celebrities who go
there bring it even more
popularity. . .Buddy's Pizza
has been receiving wide
note for • its celebrity
status... you never know...
the unsung-looking guy eat-
ing a square goodie next to •
you there may be a sports
super star.
WE LIKE SWEET, ef-
ficient and so pleasant a
person as Lynne Wilson, sec-
retary-receptionist at Little
Caesar's Enterprises on
Telegraph.

broke, "We Have Gas" (re-

and customer courtesy is
something most of the
young people who work at
Mark Drugs in Harvard
Row, 11 Mile and Lasher,
have yet to learn... Freda
and Alan Horvath go out to
breakfast every Sunday and
buy a News and Free Press
so each can have their own
paper to read. . .
Couple of
limousines
moved swiftly on John
Lodge Xway at a clip of 80
or more miles an hour
while police paid no atten-
tion to them. . . but pulled
over a couple of cars doing
slightly more than 55...
The limos had makeshift
signs on the side window
that read "Time, Inc." if
that meant anything to the
cops, who certainly weren't
doing their duty. . .

Couldn't remember because
he didn't have a cigar in
his mouth. . .
Note to Mobil station on
Lahser and 10 Mile. . .Get
another tire gauge. . .Ac-
cording to an attendant,
your mechanic takes the
only one home with him
every day and you have
nothing to check tires with.

Israeli Flags Torn
at Mexico Game

MEXICO CITY (JTA )-
Hundreds of basketball fans
celebrated Mexico's 90-77
defeat of Israel's national
basketball team here by
tearing Israeli flags and
showing open hostility to
the Israeli athletes outside
the arena.
It was the Mexicans' man-
ner of taking revenge for Is-
rael's defeat of their own
team in Tel Aviv several
weeks ago.
