Great Scott!
Issues Stamps

Great Scott! Super-
markets began issuing S&H
Green Stamps to its custom-
ers Wednesday. Great
Scott!, the Michigan Divi-
sion of Allied Super-
markets, Inc., operates 75
stores and will be the first
major supermarket chain
in Michigan to offer con-
sumers trading stamps in
several years.
"Great Scott! will remain
fully competitive with other
supermarkets," board chair-
man Ear. W. Smith said,
"and will issue S&H Green
Stamps as a consumer
bonus. We will increase our
sales and reduce operating
expenses more than enough
to pay for the stamps. For
example, we will shorten
store operating hours eight
percent to reduce operating
costs."
