WHENEVER BLIND
pianist George Shearing
comes to Detroit, he calls
Jules Stross to come over
and spend some time teach-

aridge...They use braille
cards which George
owns...Those with whom he
plays tell George the cards
as they are put out...He evi-
dently has an uncanny mem-
ory !...Jules has run the
bridge games at Town &
Country Club the past three
years on Wednesday nights
and Sunday moms.
Team of Jules' wife,
Molly, and Yetta Weinberg,
just started playing togeth-
er and already are con-
sistent winners.
JULIUS SARKO always
said that if he was well and
able, nothing could stop
him from coming in for
granddaughter Stacey's Bat
Mitzva...And so it was, at
85, former Detroiter Julius,
father of Lou and Harold,
returned to the hometown
he left 13 years ago for
Palm Springs, Fla...The
little baby girl is now a
grown young
lady... Reception was held

Week... "A Night Of
Games" by Mr. & Mrs.
Group, City of Hope, May

ONCE BEING the home-
coming queen plus May
queen chosen from the sen-
ior class at Hillsdale Col-
lege...and now the wife of a
former little All-American
football player and munici-
pal court judge, ordinarily
would not make Marlene
Frankel a real estate
woman...But the wife of
Judge Marvin Frankel, who
recently joined Shirley
Cash Realty in Oak Park,
has all the qualifications of
life...22 years married, four
children, a bachelor's de-
gree in business and 20
hours into a master's pro-
gram...Also, Marlene was a
substitute teacher for the
past four years, instructing
Oak Park School System
students in business sub-
jects...Selling real estate
akes a business head'...and
Marlene's got one...to be
sure.
DANGEROUS DAN
Thomas, cleanup batter
with the Milwaukee Bre-
wers in town last week to
battle the Detroit Tigers, re-
fuses to play from Friday
sundown until Saturday sun-
down because of his reli-
gious beliefs.
BELATED CON-
GRATS...to Kal Kuttnauer
on his birthday.
MANY CUSTOMERS at
Jax Kar Wash on Green-
field and 10 Mile wish
Angus Walker would . never
go home...He's one of the
most conscientious auto
wash workers- in town...a
