on his hawkish views.
In his acceptance speech,
Peres addressed some of
his remarks to Ravin per-
sonally. He acknowledged
that they were frequently
at odds over the years and
he was "not ashamed" to
admit it. But he stressed
that "on the central issues

JERUSALEM
(JTA.)--Likud leader Men-
ahem Begin was released
from the Ichilov Hospital in
Tel Aviv Wednesday. Begin
was hospitalized three and
one-half weeks ago, suffer-
ing from a heart attack.
His condition was com-
plicated by the devel-
opment of pneumonia, ac-
cording to his doctors.
Begin left for a two-week
convalescence period. After-

wards, his doctors said, he
could return to regular ac-
tivity: On his last day in the
hospital begin was actively
involved in efforts to have
Shlomziores Ariel Sharon
join the Likud—but he final-
ly had to give in to an ulti-
matum by the liberals, who
did not want Sharon on the.
Likud list.
Meanwhile, Yitzhak
Rabin, who resigned as
party leader, was given
17th place on the Labor
Party list. He selected it
himself and it is the same
position he occupied in the
December, 1973 elections.
When Mapam candidates
are added, Rabin will drop
to 20th position but will be
assured re-election to the
Knesset.
On Monday, Mapam's
Central Committee decided
by a comfortable margin
that Mapam will remain
within the Labor Alignment
for the May 17 elections but
will conduct a thorough re
examination of its relation-
ship with the Labor Party
six months thereafter.
Last week, Yitzhak Raph-
ael, former leader of the
National Religious Party
and Minister of Religion,
failed in an attempt to have
the courts challenge the
NRP's , decision to oust him
from the Knesset list.
A Tel Aviv judge ruled
that the court's jurisdiction
in the affairs of political
parties, which are volun-
tary bodies, was severely
limited and he would not,
therefore, interfere in the
NRP's electoral process.

`Jewish Week'
in New York

NEW YORK (JTA)—An
unprecedented program to
encourage improved inter-
group harmony in the city's
public schools and in the en-
tire community was an-
nounced Monday in cere-
monies at City Hall.

Yigal Allon and Abba
Eban were named to the
second and third spots on
the Labor list, and Eban,
foreign minister for eight
years until the end of 1973,
is virtually assured of that
post again if Labor wins the
May 17 election.
White House and State De-
partment sources said that
Peres would not be invited
to Washington before the
election, but they did not
rule out that Allon or Eban
may visit the U.S. during
the next month.
Jordan's King Hussein is
expected to arrive in Wash-
ington April 24 for meetings
the following two days sim-
ilar to those recently held
by Egyptian President An-
war Sadat and Rabi. While
in Europe early next month
for the NATO meeting, Car-
ter will see Syrian Presi-
dent Hafez Assad May 9 in
Geneva.
Around ' May 24 and 25
Saudi Arabian Crown
Prince Faud will be at the

White House. While Carter
is said to still expect • to
hold talks with Lebanese
President Elias Sarkis, no
date has been scheduled.

from the Department of
Health, Education and Wel-
fare that no federal funds
were used in the "research
arid publication" of "The
Fabrication of a Hoax," by
