its public annual memo-
rial service at noon Sunday
at Cong. Bnai David. There
will be a program and ex-
hibit of Nazi atrocities in
conjunction with Yom Hash-
oa -- Remembrance Day --
which is being com-
memorated in Israel today.
Governor William Milli-
ken of Michigan and Mayor
Donald Fracassi of South-
field have proclaimed Sun-
day "Holocaust Day. -
The - unprecedented atro-
cities committed by the
Nazi machinery of genocide
will forever remain etched
in the hearts and minds of
the Jewish people, - reads
the proclamation by Mayor
Fracassi of Southfield. The
governor in his Executive
Declaration states:
"Persons of compassion
and humanism throughout
the world can not forget the
unprecedented atrocities
committed against Jewish
people by Nazism during
World War II. The annihila-
tion of six million Jews and
other innocent people 32
years ago was an immense

and painful loss to all of
mankind.
The concentration and
extermination camps at
Auschwitz, Treblinka. Maj-
danek and Buchenwald re-
main as grim reminders
that prejudice, bigotry, op-
pression and hatred against
any peoples are destructive
and contrary to human mo-
rality."
Meanwhile, Governors
Hugh Carey of New York
and Michael Dukakis of
Massachusetts have pro-
claimed today Holocaust Re-
membrance Day in their
states.

Waldheim Sees
Delay in Talks

PARIS (JTA)—UN Secre-
tary General Kurt Wal-
dheim said last week that
wide differences over pro-
cedure and substance be-
tween Israel and the Arab
states would delay reconven-
ing the Geneva conference
until "September, October,
if we are lucky. -
, Speaking to reporters
after a meeting with Presi-
dent Valery Giscard
d'Estaing, Waldheim
stressed that the conference
had to be carefully pre-
pared in advance "other-
wise it will be a failure and
that would be counter-pro-
ductive."
