Midrasha Plans Bargman Memorial Lecture Series

Theodore Bargman
Memorial Lectures as
part of its 21st annual in-
stitute, March 9, 16 and 24
in the LaMed Auditorium
of the United Hebrew
Schools main building.

linguistics at the College
of Staten Island of the
City University of New
York; will open the series
8:15 p.m. Wednesday. A
National Science Found-
ation grant winner, Prof.
Jochnowitz, will speak on
"Ladino: The Language
and Its Literature."
Dr. 'Herbert H. Paper,
professor of linguistics
and Near Eastern Lan-
guages at the University of
Michigan and an expert on
the history of the Persian
language, will address the
March 16 session on
"Jewish Language and
Literature of Central
The final lecture will be
addressed . by Prof.
Mordkhe Schaechter who
will speak on "Yiddish: A
Language Trans-
planted." Prof. Schaech-
ter is a lecturer in Yiddish
at• Columbia University
and assistant professor at
Jewish Teachers' Semi-
nary-Herzliya, N.Y.

Canada are expected to
be the first markets that
Israel and Holland will
seek together.

pected there would be
many difficulties to over-
come before both coun-
tries could sell in the

She said Israel expects
to export $24 million in
flowers this winter and
$37.5 million next year.
