PETAH TIKVA (ZINS)
— A remarkable gather-
ing of the survivors of the
"Second Aliya" which
started in 1903 and ended
in 1919, took place here.
Rachael Yanait, the
widow of Yitzhak Ben-Zvi
(who had come to the
country with the Second
Aliya), did not participate
in it.
• In her letter to the
chairman of the gather-
ing, Mrs. Yanait wrote,
"It pains me greatly to
see conditions in our soci-
ety. I believe that we all
share the impression that
the Histadrut no longer
lives on with the values
which were set for it at its
founding. How did we all,
who carry the responsi-
bility for the Labor Party
which heads the govern-
ment and Histadrut, not
been able to avoid the ap-
pearance of corruption
and lies within our soci-
ety?"

VIENNA (ZINS) —
Soviet immigrants who
stop over in Vienna on
their way to Israel tell the
following anecdote cur-
rent in Moscow:
Brezhnev asks Gromyko,
"How many Jews are
there in Soviet Russia?"
Gromyko answers,
"Three million."
Brezhnev asks further,
"If we open the gates and
permit them to emigrate,
how many would leave
Soviet Russia in your
opinion?" Gromyko, "At
least six million."
