chief judge to a two year
term effective Jan. 1.

being considered for U.S.
Attorney in Detroit, it be-
came known this week.

his list of prospective ap-
pointees to succeed Philip
Van Dam, a Republican,
who is certain to be re-

Clarkson's second term as
