THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS
LARCO'S
Danny Raskin's
LISTENING
POST
. MAX ROSEN travels a
lot on business and als-
ways calls his wife, Lot-
tie, from wherever he is
. . . This time he was
using a pay station in
Chicago . . . After he and
Lottie had shared the
news about the kids and
business, the operator
told him his three mi-
nutes were LID .. . So he
said a quick goodbye . . .
As he left the booth, the
phone rang . . . Max dug
for some change, expect-
ing to pay for overtime
. . . However, the
operator said, "I thought
you'd want to know. You
hung up before your wife
finished, She said, 'I love
you.' "
GARY SACKS, son of
Morey and Rose, is hav-
ing a one-man fashion
show of his original style
creations for I. Magnin in
Los Angeles . . . Gary
graduated from Oak Park
High and now works in
Hollywood . . . He has
created high-style fash-
ions for luminaries like
Racquel Welch and Cher
Bono Allman.
HYPNOTIST HY
LEWIS gets some strange
requests from clients . . .
Young lady in Lapeer hid
her wedding rings some-
where in her house before
going on vacation to
Hawaii . . . On her re-
turn, she forgot where
she had placed them . .
Hearing that the use of
hypnosis can sometimes
help a person recall
events normally difficult
to remember, she called
Hy and made an ap-
pointment . . . A suitable
subject, she was ,able,
under hypnosis, to- recall
that she hid them in the
root cellar behind some
old Mason jars.
Not only did she find
the rings exactly as she
had described where they
would be . . . further
probing behind the jars
led her to an old, little
leather bag that con-
tained some gold coins
presumably put there by
the original owner . . .
The house is over 100
years old.
OVERHEARD . . by
Barbara Farber . . .
pajama-clad little
Stephan calling out to her
and hubby Ed . . . "I'm
going to say my prayers.
Anyone want anything?"
BROTHERS-IN-LAW
with the same name of
Ben Feldstein have to use
middle initials for folks to
differentiate them from
each other . . . Jeanne's
husband uses the initial
J. . . . and Violet's hus-
band took V. . . . In-
teresting that both ini-
tials are the first letter in
their wife's names.
Ben J., by the way, for-
got that he was the
foreigner on recent visit
to Dublin, Ireland . . .
Asked one of the natives
where the Ambassador
Hotel was located . . .
The Irishman could

IN NORTH Hollywood
recently, Selma Klein
stayed with ex-Detroiter
cousin Rosalie Moss . .
While Selma prepared
dinner one evening,
Rosalie suddenly remem-
bered that a close friend's
birthday was the next
day. . . She got in the car
and made a hurried dash
to the drugstore to buy a
card . . . When she re-
turned home, she looked
crestfallen.
In her rush she had
made an illegal turn and
been given a traffic ticket
which would cost her a
$15 fine . . . After she had
berated herself for a few
moments, her face
brightened . . . "You
know what I can do?" she
exclaimed to Selma with
an air of having saved the
situation . . . "I'll write
on her card, 'Happy
Birthday — a donation in
your name is being made
to the Department of
Motor Vehicles. ' "
