Vaad Eulogizes
Talmud Scholar-

The Council of Or-
thodox Rabbis of Greater
Detroit Vaad
Harabonim — conducted
a public eulogy for Rabbi
Yehezkel Abramsky, a
noted talmudic authority,
who died recently in Is-
rael.
Held at Cong. Dovid
Ben Nuchim during the
High Holidays, the as-
sembly recalled the lead-
ership roles and the work
of the late chief rabbi of
the London Beth Din. He
made hiS home in Israel
in 1951.
Participating , in the
ceremony were Rabbi
Chaskel Grubner, chair-
man of the assembly;
Rabbi Leib Bakst; Rabbi
James I. Gordon of Young
'Israel of Oak-Woods; and
Rabbi Leizer Levin, pres-
ident of the Vaad.

Sefer Torah
to Be Donated

Ben Becker and Robert
and Marsha Sherman
have donated a Sefer
Torah to the Lubavitcher
Center in memory of their
wife and mother, Luba
Becker.
The Sefer Torah, origi-
nally from Russia, is un-
finished and will be com-
pleted by a scribe at spe-
cial ceremonies, 1 p.m.
Nov. 7 at the Lubavitcher
Center.
Rabbi Solomon S.
Hecht of Chicago, Ill., will
be the guest speaker. A
musical program will in-
clude the Polter
Brothers, and a reception
will follow the dedication.
