SUNDAY
BRUNCH

The Best of Everything

(Continued from Page 32)
everyone to get a good de-
livery. Air-
conditioning in the car
has a lot to do with cooling
down an order, too, you
know.
HOLIDAY TIME IS al-
most here and Dave and
Ethel Natinsky of Dave's
Fish and Seafood Market
in Oak Park, have this re-
cipe for pickled fish . . . 6
lbs. fish, 1 qt. of vinegar, 1
qt. of water, 1 heaping
tablespoon of salt, 1 1/2
cups of sugar, 2 tables-
poons of pickling spices, 3
large onions (sliced) . . .
Cook altogether for 25
minutes, then strain and
add lemon slices.
PET PEEVES . . . Bus
boys who bang dishes
around . . . No noise as
irking, especially in the
morning . . . No wonder
so many restaurants
have chipped dishes . .
Instead of getting rid of
them only, they should
boot out the "I don't care"
bus boys.
Waitresses who look at
you but don't come over to
wait on your table first
because another one may
be closer . . . Don't laugh,
we know a spot in town
where this has happened
. . . or perhaps the young
girl is too inexperienced
and not capable of handl-
ing a station with more
than one table or booth
. . . This is a very sad
situation for the bosses
. . . who lose both good
will and customers.
Waitresses who bring
their problems to work
. . . and take them out on
the customers . . . by not
smiling and being
grumpy in their service
. . . Many times, the cus-
tomer is in the restaurant
to relax and get away
from problems of his or
her own!)
SEEING SPOTS . . . At-
rium, on Telegraph, Bin-
gham Farms, . . .
Garden-style eating
tucked away in the
Burton-Share office
building wraps around
two sides to open cour-
tyard, complete with
walks, fountain and
greenery . . . Decor leans
to warm oranges, beiges
and greens . . . Comfort-

CONSUMERS FOR
PURE FOOD paper,
"Food For Thought"
asks:
"Did you know . .
"That eggs should not
be stored in the egg com-
partment of the re-
frigerator if it's on the
door? Opening and clos-
ing the door subjects the
eggs to too much vibra-
tion and moisture con-
densation, both of which
can affect egg taste and
quality.
"For longer egg life,
Consumers Union ad-
vises that if eggs are
properly stored on the
coldest non-freezer shelf
in the refrigerator, they
may be safely kept. An
egg's taste changes
slightly as it ages.
"Consumers Union
adds that larger sized
eggs are generally a bet-
ter buy than small ones,
particularly if the price of
the larger is not more
than 10 percent higher
than the price of the next
smaller size."
ISN'T IT THE TRUTH
. . . No waiter or waitress
should be "too busy" to
smile.

Let thy fountain be
blessed; and have joy of the
wife of thy youth.
