NEW YORK — The Na-
tional Council of Jewish
Women's board of directors
named Marjorie Merlin
Cohen of New York City, to
the position of executive di-
rector.
Ms. Cohen has a long
professional career in the
area of equal opportunity
employment, having served
with the U. S. Department
of Defense Contract Admin-
istration Services Region
where she conducted com-
pliance reviews and negotia-
tions with top-level manage-
ment of major corporations
in affirmative action pro-
grams.
Previously, Ms. Cohen
was Chief of Intergovern-
mental Liaison in the U.S.
Department of Housing and
Urban Development where
she served as alternate to
the Divisional Director on
enforcement of the Fair
Housing Act. She also or-
ganized and conducted
training programs for
Equal Opportunity Counse-
lors for the New York Fed-
eral Region.
Before joining the New
York City Commission on
Human Rights as Director
of Conciliation, Ms. Cohen
served as a labor consultant
to the Anti-Defamation
League of B'nai B'rith, and
as national field director for
the Jewish Labor Commit-
tee where she supervised the
field staff in nine cities.
An early proponent of
women's rights, Ms. Cohen
was active in the New York
Chapter of the National
Organization for Women
(NOW) and was on the origi-
nal committee which subse-
quently became the Wom-
en's Political Caucus. She is
the author of a widely dis-
tributed brochure entitled,
"Employed Women: Your
Rights Under Law."

tried in a curried lamb dish.
