Greek Premier's
Slurs Protested

LONDON — Anti-Israeli
and anti-Semitic remarks
by Greek Premier Constan-
tine Karamanlis during a
Greek Parliament debate
have been protested by the
Israel government.
The London Jewish
Chronicle reported that in
the course of debate on the
U.S.-Greek defense agree-
ment, Karamanlis rejected
demands that Greece join
non-aligned countries.
He was quoted as saying,
"Egypt, which suffered
from Israeli aggression, is
non-aligned. Syria, which
suffered from aggression, is
non-aligned. So is Lebanon.

Later in the debate,
Karamanlis turned to Tur-
key's allegations that
Greece was a threat to her.
These 'allegations, Kara-
manlis said, "remind me
of the story about the Jew
who cried out for help even
as he was beating up his
opponent."
When this "story" was
greeted with silence, the
Greek premier said: "I see
that you have not under-
stood the story. I will repeat
it." He then did so.

Aliya From USSR
Reported Down

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Tosef Almogi, chairman of
she World Zionist Organiza-
tion and Jewish Agency
Executives, reported that 60
percent of the Jews cur-
'ently emigrating from the
Soviet Union do not con-
tinue on to Israel after
reaching Vienna.
He also disclosed that
immigration during the
first quarter of 1976 was off
one percent from the same
period last year.
The 60 percent "drop-out"
rate is regarded as serious.
Last year the number of
Soviet Jewish emigres who
chose to go to countries
other than Israel was about
40 percent.
