Sinai Expands Heart Care With Cathetenza ion Lab

Sinai Hospital of De-
troit's new catheterization
lab, located near the Isadore
and Beryl Winkelman
Heart Care Center, is seeing
as many as five patients a
day as part of an enlarged
cardiology section's increas-
ing work load and extensive
research program.
Under Dr. Melvyn Ruben-
fire, chief of the section of
cardiology, a four-year pro-
gram has just been com-
pleted at Sinai, geographi-
cally centralizing all heart

treatment and diagnostic
facilities at the hospital and
adding the modern catheter-
ization lab.
Funding for the new facil-
ity — some $450,000 — has
come mostly from the prof-
its of the Gift Shop operated
by the Volunteers of the
Sinai Guild. Additional
monies came from the Car-
diology Research and Edu-
cation Fund and the hospi-
tal's capital budget.
