Appoints Director

WASHINGTON — Dr.
William Korey, a specialist
on Soviet Jewish affairs and
Bnai Brith's non-govern-
mental representative at the
United Nations, has been
appointed director of the
Bnai Brith International
Council.
Korey succeeds Herman
Edelsberg, who retires
March 1 after nine years in
that post. Edelsberg contin-
ues his affiliation with Bnai
Brith as a consultant on for-
eign affairs.
Korey has headed Bnai
Brith's UN office since 1960
and has been a leader in the
conference of non-govern-
mental representatives
whose organizations have
consultative status with the
world body. He is currently
chairman of its human
rights committee.
