OP to Conduct First Aid Class
The Oak Park Depart-
ment of Public Safety in
- cooperation with the Oak-
land County Office of Disas-
ter Control and Civil De-
fense, will conduct a
medical emergency course
beginning Sept. 25 at the
Public Safety Building.
The course will be held
from 7:30-9:30 p.m. each
Thursday, except holidays,
for 10 weeks, and is avail-

able free to Oakland County
residents.
Instruction will be given
in first aid for bleeding,
shock, burns and fractures,
psychological first aid,
emergency childbirth, arti-
ficial respiration and cardi-
opulmonary resuscitation.

18.
Oriental Art Exhibition Due
The Michigan Oriental
Art Society will sponsor an
exhibition entitled "Deco-
rative Arts of the Orient
1736-1936" at the Birming-
ham-Bloomfield Art Asso-
ciation, 1516 Cranbrook,
Birmingham.
The exhibition hours are 9
a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday and
Sept. 12, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sept. 13-14.
The show will include
approximately 300 pieces of
selected art objects includ-
ing bronze, cloisonne, em-
broidery, enamel, inro, iron,
ivory, lacquer, netsuke,
pewter, snuff bottles, stone
and wood carving.
The public is invited.
There is no admission

Slated at Center
A special four-day dance
workshop for beginning
through experienced dan-
cers will be held Monday-
Thursday at the Jewish
Community Center. The
workshop will be conducted
by Allen Maniker, son of the
Aaron Manikers of Oak
Park, and a local dancer
who has achieved a national
reputation.
The workshop classes will
be in contemporary dance
with special emphasis on
the Jose Limon technique.
Beginners classes will meet
5:30-7:30 p.m., on each of
the four days, experienced
classes will meet from
7-8:30 p.m. Classes are open
to the entire community.
