Queried by Envoys

Invitations &
Stationery

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
The ambassadors of Israel
in Washington and Bucha-
rest have been instructed to
inquire about the reports
that President Ford and a
PLO official shook hands
and spoke briefly at a recep-
tion held for Ford in Ro-
mania's capital when he vis-
ited the country a week ago.
The ambassadors, accord-
ing to reports in Israel, were
instructed to inquire who
initiated - the meeting and
what was said in the short
conversation between the
President and the PLO offi-
cial.

(In Washington last week,
State Department spokes-
man Robert Anderson said
the PLO representative was
present in the diplomatic
greeting party arranged by
the Romanian government
and that "The President had
no substantive exchange
with him at all.")

Ribner Keeps
Top JWV Post

LAS VEGAS — Judge
Paul Ribner of Philadelphia
was re-lected national com-
mander of the Jewish War
Veterans, U.S.A., at the
concluding session of the
80th Annual Convention
here. Judge Ribner was un-
opposed.
Judge Ribner became the
first national commander in
the history of the Jewish
War Veterans, the oldest
veteran organization in the
nation, to be re-elected dur-
ing peacetime. Change in
the by-laws at a constitu-
tional convention four
months ago made it possible
for the national commander
to succeed himself to the
one-year term.
During the week-long
convention at the Frontier
Hotel, the JWV passed 15
resolutions ranging in sub-
ject matter from and to Viet
Nam refugees to up-grading
of rehabilitation programs
for disabled servicemen and
women.
Other JWV- concerns
included anti-Semitism;
United Nations actions in
regard to Israel, Soviet
Jewry; the European Se-
