WASHINGTON — Histo-
rians aren't accustomed to
making history, but that's
what happened recently to
Rabbi Bertram W. Korn.
A world-renowned Jewish
historian, Rabbi Korn was
recently promoted to rear
admiral in the Naval Re-
serve — the first Jewish
chaplain in the history of
the nation's armed forces to
achieve flag rank.
Terrorists Wound
Seven Israelis
TEL AVIV (JTA) —
Seven Israeli soldiers were
wounded in a terrorist am-
bush Wednesday while
searching for terrorist col-
laborators in the Lebanese
village of Kila.
The casualties, most of
them slight, were evacuated
by helicopter as their unit
continued its operations,
destroying terrorist houses
and killing an unspecified
number of terrorists inside.
They returned safely to Is-
rael with seven suspected
terrorist collaborators as
prisoners.
The Israeli force entered
Kila which was used as a
base for terrorist infiltra-
tors into Israel who were
apparently aided by some of
the local residents. The vil-
lage lies just west of the Is-
raeli border settlement of
Metullah where three ter-
rorists infiltrators were
killed earlier this week.
