Concert to Aid Day Care Center
in Israel in Memory of Mrs. Koven

A concert to benefit the
Beit Nahama Day Care Cen-
ter in Rishon Le Zion, Is-
rael, will be held 8:30 p.m.
Thursday in the Labor Zion-
ist Institute, 28555 Middle-
belt, Farmington.
The concert, in memory of
Leah Koven, wife of Dr.
Samuel Koven who is active
in- musical and Labor Zion-
ist activities, is –sponsored
by Dimona Chapter of Pi-
oneer Women and the Tru-
man-Brenner Branch of the
Labor Zionist Alliance.
The Bel Canto Choral So-
ciety, of which Mrs. Koven
was a founder, will perform.
Dan Braude will conduct
the chorale, and Mrs. Shelly
Lakin will be accompanist.

Ferndale to Sponsor Lectures for Women

Music Club to Honor Mrs. Souls

The Ferndale Continuing
and Community Education
Department will offer three
lectures for and about
women in honor of Interna-
tional Women's Year.

Lorraine Beebe, former
state senator and former
director of the Michigan
Consumers Council, will
speak on "Women in Poli-
tics" on May 1.. Marilyn Jean
Kelly, president of the State
Board of Education will
speak on "Women in Educa-
tion" May 15.

Mrs. Edith Sauls, second from left, will be honored at
the Music Study Club of Metropolitan Detroit's "Mu-
sical Evening" 8 p.m. Sunday at Temple Beth EL The
event will culminate a year's activities marking the
club's 50th anniversary. Mrs. Sauls is completing 40
years as the club's scholarship chairman. The officers
and board of directors of Music Study Club have estab-
lished a scholarship fund — the Edith Sauls Scholarship
Fund — in her honor. Shown are, from left: Joseph Sil-
verstein, concertmaster of the Boston Symphony and
music director of the Tanglewood Summer Music
School; Mrs. Sauls; Ruth Meckler Laredo, concert pian
