WZO Publishes
Scholar's Lectures

NEW YORK — The first
copy of a new volume, "On
Repentance," published in
Jerusalem by the Torah ed-
ucation department of the
World Zionist Organization
and comprising a selection
of oral lectures on the theme
by Rabbi Joseph B. SoloVeit-
chik, was presented recently.
to the talmudic scholar and
orthodox theologian by Mi-
cha Yinon and Rabbi Mallen
Galinsky, representing the
department in the United
States.
The Hebrew volume, con-
tains a translation of Solov-
eitchik's discourses which
are held annually in Yiddish
between Rosh Hashana and
Yom Kippur.

Dr. Schwartzberg Dies at 74

Dr. Joseph Schwartzberg,
a doctor of internal medi-
cine for more than 40 years,
died March 8 at age 74.
Born in Utica, N.Y., Dr.
Schwartzberg completed his
undergraduate studies at
the University of Michigan
from which he was grad-
uated in 1922. As a student
at U-M, he was a member of
the Menora Society.
A resident of Shaker
Heights, Ohio, for 45 years,
Dr. Schwartzberg was
awarded that. city's certifi-
cate of distinction for the
practice of medicine.

ciation, the Cleveland
Academy of Medicine and

Social Change

NEW YORK — Sexuality,
changing patterns of youth
and life styles, and the rabbi
as a surrogate for his con-
gregants will be among the
subjects to be discussed at a
two-day national conference
on social change to be
jointly sponsored by the
Central Conference of
American Rabbis and the
Rabbinical Assembly on
Monday and Tuesday at
Temple Emanu-El, New
York.
Dr. Daniel Thurz, dean of

the University of Maryland,
will discuss "The Changing–

Kissinger Meets
Old Acquaintance

NEW YORK — Secretary
of State Henry Kissinger
had a surprise reunion with
an old friend in Wales on his
way to the Middle East last
week.
Kissinger had a chance
meeting with Herbert
Kirschbaum, who the Kis-
singer family knew from
pre-Hitler Germany. They
met in Wales after Kissin-
ger spoke - to a girls class at
a Roman Catholic convent.
• Kirschbaum, who hail
changed his name to Kirby,
presented Kissinger with a
box of candy for the plane
flight to the Middle East.
