Correction is requested of the March 7 news report
in which it was stated that "At the UN reception tend-
ered to Yasir Arafat there were Rabbi Elmer Berger and
Alfred Lilienthal representing the 'American Council for
Judaism.' "
In erroneously identifying Rabbi Berger and Mr.
Lilienthal with the ACJ, the news item disseminates a
report that is widely at variance with the truth.
The pro-Arafat position imputed to the ACJ is
wholly unwarranted and is inconsistent with publicly-
defined attitudes spelled out by the ACJ. Any responsi-
ble inquiry will clearly reveal that neither partiCipant in
the UN reception is affiliated with the ACJ in any man-
ner whatever or possesses the authority to represent or
speak for the ACJ.

The organization's stationery explains that the Ameri-
can Council for Judaism is "a national organization dedi-
cated to the preservation of the universal values of Judaism
and opposing Zionist effort to impose a "Jewish" nationality
identification on our religious faith, for in the U.S. religion
and nationality remain separate and distinct. We regard
the State of Israel as the "homeland" of only its own citi-
zens and nationals. We reject Zionist-national claims that
the "Jewish people" is a legally recognized "political and
ethnical entity" with rights in, and obligations to, the State
of Israel."

Israelis 'Buy'
American Wives

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Some
Israeli students living in the
United States are paying
American women to marry
them temporarily so that
they can qualify for work
permits in order to support
themselves while attending
college, the Tel Aviv Univer-
sity student weekly Yatoosh
(Mosquito) reported.
In some cases the newly-
wed students get reduction
in fees and rent and qualify
for American citizenship.
When their financial bur-
dens are eased, the students
divorce their American
wives, by prearrangement,
and often bring over their
Israeli girl-friends to get
married, according to the
