Petitions Due
for Syrian Jewry
Aid Campaign
Petitions to President
Gerald Ford to intercede on
behalf of Syrian Jews are
due in the offices of the Jew-
ish Community Council on
March 17.
According to Dr. Theo-
dore Mandell, chairman - of
the Council's committee on
international concerns, "in
one month more than 150
petitions with over 2,250 sig-
natures have been ,signed
and handed in."
The Council's petition
asks President Ford to use
his good offices and the re-
sources of the American
government "to intercede
with the government of the
Syrian Arab Republic in
order to ameliorate oppres-
sive conditions under which
the Jews of Syria are pre-
sented forced to exist."
On March 17 the Council
will forward the petitions to
the White House, along
with letters to members of
Michigan's Congressional
delegation and the State De-
partment that will detail
the goals and results of the
Syrian Jewry petition drive.

Center Dance
Program Afoot
The Jewish Community
Center Apprentice Dancers
will present a creative dance
program 2 p.m. March 23 in
the Aaron DeRoy Theater in
the main Center.
Participating in the pro-
gram are Cindy Adler, Ab-
bey Brasch, Karen Levy,
Lori Lichtman, Beth Lip-
son, Marian Sandweiss,
Pam Schane, Liane Shekter,
Melissa Shufro and Judith
Walters.
The public is invited at no
charge.

sing a medley of Jewish
songs in the Jewish Music
Festival to be held 3:30 p.m.
Sunday in the Aaron DeRoy
Theater of the Jewish Com-
munity Center. The center
symphony also will per-
form.

pianist Beth Rhodes and vio-
linist Mischa Mischakoff.
