Arab-Israel Conflict
in School Studies

JERUSALEM (ZINS)—The
Arab-Israeli conflict is now
part of the curriculum in
Israeli schools, according to
the education ministry. The
objective is to broaden the
students' understanding of
the issues by introducing his-
torical facts supporting, the
justice of Israel's position
and the validity of restoring
national independence in Is-
rael's ancestral homeland.
The curriculum also includes
the Arab side of the dispute.

Allied Jewish Campaign Augmented
by Appointment of Division Chairmen

BERLIN — A concert was
held in the Jewish community
house in Berlin, the first of
works exclusively by contem-
porary artists. It was ar-
ranged in collaboration with
the friends of the Israel Phil-
harmonic Orchestra.

roster of over 5,000 physi-
cians, attorneys, dentists,
pharmacists, accountants, op-
tometrists, health service
personnel, engineers, teach,
ers and government workers.
Morris Asher and Morris
Friedman have been re-
appointed chairmen' of the
metropolitan division. Both
Asher and Friedman have
been active in the division
for many years. Asher is a
past special gifts chairman
and a board member of the
Labor Zionist Alliance
Branch 11, and Histadrut.
Friedman has been active in
the landsmanchaften.
Edward A. Lumberg, Jun-
ior Division president, will
serve as division Campaign
chairman for 1975. Lumberg
has been active in Division
affairs for several years,
having served as executive
committee chairman in 1973-
1974 and Division vice
president in 1972-1973. He
was a division executive com-
mittee member in 1971-1972
and chairman of the junior
men's pre-Campaign section
of the - 1972 AJC-IEF.

Theological Seminary and a
former president of the Rab-
binical Assembly, the book
will detail the history, guid-
ing principles and contribu-
tions of the Rabbinical As-
sembly, largest rabbinical
group in the world.

`Hidden' Jewish
Poor Found in NY

NEW YORK (JTA)—A two-
month search in Brooklyn's
Brownsville-East New York-
Bedford - Stuyvesant • section
found some 200 remaining
Jewish families urgently in
need of a wide range of social
services of whom more than
150 were unknown to the
three agencies of the Federa-
tion of Jewish Philanthropies
involved in the pmgrant
According to the report,
previously unidentified Jew-
ish poor with annual incomes
under $3,500 form the major-
ity, of Jews reached by the
pilot project. The three agen-
cies are Jewish Association
for College Youth; the Jew-
ish Association for Services
for the Aged, which has start-
ed comprehensive services to
poor aged Jews; and the
Jewish Family Service, which
is focusing on poor Jews -
under 65 and Jewish families
with severe intergenerational
conflicts.
