GO, ENJOY

The Jewish people have always known sorrow and oppression and they have
survived both. The establishment of Israel prOvided an opportunity to offer a
home for the survivors of the worst oppression in history. The establishment of
Israel also gave Jews everywhere a greater sense of self esteem. Recent events
in Israel, the war, inflation, a reduction in tourism, have created very difficult
problems for our brothers and sisters in Israel. Their very survival is threatend
- and again we must stand together. They need tourists. Go to Israel, go now.
Enjoy this exciting experience — and when you return you will probably say,
"Im glad I went." Shalom.

Author Warns Nazism May Return
Lectures Stirs Book Fair Audience

Warnings of a resurgent
Nazism by Ladislas Farago,
author of "Aftermath" (Si-
mon and Schuster), stirred a
capacity .audience on the
opening night of the annual
Jewish Book Fair. The Satur-
day night audience heard
Farago analyze the subject
of his book which claims \
that the arch Nazi criminal,
Martin Bormann is still alive
and that ue had seen him in
a hospital in Boliva.
Farago first alleged that
Bormann was still alive in a
series of newspaper articles
in 1972, and he compiled the
evidence in "Aftermath." He
said there about 50,000 Nazis
and Nazi criminals wanted
by several countries now liv-
ing in South , America.
Because many of his 1972
newspaper articles were dis-
puted, _ "Aftermath" w a s
written "as a matter of
honor," Farago said.
He said that after his
articles appeared the Ger-
man government announced
that - a skull found in a rail-
road yard had- been proven
to be Bormann's.
"I felt my reputation as a
journalist was at stake, so I
re-examined my evidence
and went back to South
America," he said.
There he met Bormann's
protectors, one of whom was
the late Juan Peron whom
Farago said agreed to pro-
tect Bormann in Argentina in
return for three-quarters of
the wealth Bormann brought

estimated in the millions.
"Tile mystery of Martin
Bormann seems very great
in the United States, but ,it's
not so, 'great down there.
Martin Bormann is not hard
to find.
"Many journalists have writ-
ten that I'm wrong, that
Martin Bormann is dead, but
I'm the only one who went
looking , for him."

Study on Hebrew Revival Published

RAMAT-GAN — A study
has been published in Eng-
lish by. Dr. Jack Fellman of
the department of Hebrew
language at Bar-Ilan Uni-
versity here entitled "The
Revival of a Classic Tongue"
which analyses how Eliezer
Ben-Yehuda, the "Father' of
Modern Hebrew," revived
Hebrew and converted it to a
modern everyday language.
According. to Dr. Fellman,
Ben - Yehuda accomplished
this feat by creating the first
Hebrew - speaking household
in Palestine by forcing his
wife and children to speak
nothing but Hebrew, agitat-
ing' the local population and
Jews in the Diaspora to
speak, write and read He-
brew, forming Hebrew-speak-
ing societies, instituting
Hebrew ,teaching in the
schools with the teacher in-
structing entirely in t h e
Hebrew language, establish-
ing the first comprehensive
Hebrew newspaper in Pales-
tine; creating the first
modern Hebrew dictionary
and establishing a special
language council to coin new
words and decide on proper
usage and pronounciation.
These seven steps alone
are not enough, however, for
anyone wanting to revive a
language, Dr. Fellman points
out. Aside from the several
national and political pre-
requisites which existed as

the Jewish 'people revived
their ancient homeland, such
a revival also requires a
particular kind of man to
carry it out, and overcome
the many obstacles involved.
The book has been pub-
lished by the Mouton Pub-
lishers, of Holland, as part
of a special series entitled
`Contributions to the Soci-
ology of Language" under
the editorship of Prof. Joshua
Fishman, of Yeshiva Univer-
sity in New York.
