Russian Jew Is Seeking Relatives
Reportedly Living in Detroit Area
Uniting their efforts, the
Metropolitan Detroit Bnai
Brith Council and th, Bnai
Brith Women's Council of
Metropolitan Detroit, have
embarked upon the seventh
annual campaign to raise
$300,000 for the Bnai Brith
Youth Services Appeal.
The direct solicitation cam-
paign is based on a person-
to-person appeal to raise the
needed funds. David Levine,
president' of the men's coun-
cil, and Mrs. Maynard Kalef,
women's council president,
have named David Bittker
and Mrs. Harold Rowe as
Youth Services Appeal chair-
men of their respective
Councils.
Major beneficiaries of the
The Detroit Committee for
Soviet Jewry has been asked
to help find relatives of Lar-
issa Goman (maiden name
Natanson), of Leningrad.
Mrs. Goman, who has been
denied permission to emi-
grate, is seeking her great-
uncle, Joseph Natanson (may
be Nathanson), who is re-
ported to live in the Detroit
area. Her father was Joseph
Natanson's nephew.
Joseph Natanson was born
in the Ukraine between 1894-
96. He visited the Soviet
Union in 1968, and at that
time was in his late 70's.
Mrs. Goman is also related
to the Goldstein brothers of
Tblisi, who have been sub-
jected to harassment by the
Soviet authorities, including
threats of imprisonment.

Mix hot water, oil and salt.
Cool. Add eggs and matzo meal.
Cover and put in refrigerator for
45 minutes. Shape matzo mixture
into small balls and drop into
boiling chicken soup. Cook cov-
ered for 15 minutes. Remove from
soup and set matzo balls aside.
With Part II ingredients:
Grease a two-quart rectangular
casserole dish. Put in yams, then
carrots, currants, apple and pine-
apple chunks (save juice). Sprin-
kle with brown sugar. Top with
the matzo balls and cover the
whole casserole with the reserved
pineapple juice. Bake at 400 de-
grees for about 40 minutes. Baste
about every 15 minutes.
