again at Tiger Stadium, and
Detroit split a twi-night dou-
ble bill with Oakland while
33,000 fans whooped it up ...
"Of all the people we have
to get stuck with sitting be-
hind us," squawked son
Scott, "it had to be those
two girls who knoW every-
thing about baseball." Like
"We want Oakland to win
because their uniforms are
prettier" or "That pitcher is
mean, not letting him hit the
ball," etc.) . . . Long evening
from 5:30 to 11, started by
parking at Max Silk's Fine
Food Delicatessen on Michi-
gan and Brooklyn . and
sitting in the boxes at sec-
tion 15 ushered by Eddie.
Brown; Isabelle's handsome
hubby, in his seventh year as
a valued Tiger management
employe . . . Crescent Shrin-
ers were scattered about .. .
Sam Krone wearing dark
glasses, sun or no sun . . .
A tanned Howard Waterstone
. . . Max Schwartz waiting
while a lad got out of his
seat . . . Eli Springer hard
to miss in his flaming red
sports jacket . . . Charlie
Robinson and Nash Adelman
thinking they had the wrong
night—people in their seats
. and so many many more.
AFTER • 18 YEARS di-
vorced from each other, Rose
and Lou Lover were recently
remarried . . . She had got-
ten ill and it seemed to bring
them together again . . .
But Rose and Lou never
were too far apart even with
the divorce . . . always talk-
ing to each other . . . and she
calling as to what time was
he coming for Sunday break-
fast .. . and telling him the
kind of bagels to bring.
FOUND A BAKERY where
the girls smile as they wait
on you . . Modern at Lin-
coln Center . . . Pleasant,
too, and none of that high-
pressure -stuff, either. _
HARRY AND RUTH GOR-
BACK are celebrating their
50th anniversary this Mon-
day . . Harry and Ruth will
move to Florida this fall.
BERNARD "B.B." BOL-
TON and wife Esther quietly
went out to dinner on his
60th birthday . . . and re-
turned home to relax . . .
Suddenly the phone rang

it was daughter-in-law Sheila
Bolton (Dt. Norman) • . .
"Where's dad? Tell him to
hurry over. The pipes broke
and are boiling over!" . . .
No time to change his clothes_
(and Esther wouldn't let him
anyway, being the instiga-
tor) . . . just enough to grab
work overalls and tool box
. . . When they got to the
magnificent home of Dr. Nor-
Man and Sheila Bolton,
"B.B." and Esther walked
downstairs to the sumptuous
bar and_game rooms off the
patio where lie the supposed
broken pipe culprits . . • A
big SURPRISE greeted an
unbelieving "B.B." as shouts
of Happy Birthday rang out
MT the man whose pleasures
in life have always been to
help others . . . It was a most
congenial evening . . and
for some, memories of yes-
teryears . . . Hilda Fixler Er-

don Margolis (Sam) recall-
ing over 40 years ago when
they" were teen-age members

smoking a purple pipe . . .
David, 10, son of Sheila and
Dr. Norm, shooting a picture
of "B.B.", with gramps sug-
gesting it would some out
better if the lens cover was
off.
SOPHIE MELTZER never'
forgets ages of others and
supermarket prices . . . but
is most noted for her sending
of 'birthday cards to every-
one . . . This year, however,.
she's having trouble keeping
up with the staggering food
costs — they keep changing
all the time . . . and her 88th
birthday was not forgotten by
others as 35 folks watched
her blow out 16 candles, one
for each decade and eight
more for years . . . Happy
time was at home of daugh-
ter Lee - Mezer (Dr. Gilbert).
SCOTT SCHARG, 10-year-
old son of Paul and Lolly
Scharg, tossed a, no-hitter for
his Cubs team in the South-
field Double AA (10 to 12)
Baseball League . . . Young
Scott had 12 strikeouts, mak-
ing a total of 50 whiffs in his
last 24 innings.
CONGRATS TO . . Sam
and Sylvia Ellman . . . cele-
brating their 37th anniver-
sary.
ADRIANNE LEVINE (Dr.
Jack), daughter of "Sonny"
and the late Ben Marcus, not
only follows in her parents'
footsteps as a party giver,
but 'also is an auto enthusi-
ast, owning classic cars, and
avid horsewoman Adri-
anne's colt, Noble Viking, is
coming up fast and was pur-
chased for his name . .. be-
cause Ben was a great Noble
as many shriners will re-
member.
