RAMAT-GAN--The tradi-
tional music of the various
Jewish ethnic groups in Is-
rael is being recorded on
tape in their homes as part
of a large project beihg un-
dertaken by Uri Sharvit, of
Bar-Ilan University's depart-
ment of musicology. Shavrit,
an expert on ethnomusicol-
ogy, is a composer and con-
ducts the Bar-flan Chamber
Orchestra.

Levy Retires
From WZO

NEW YORK — The retire-
ment of Henry (Hank) W.
Levy as public relations di-
rector of the World Zionist
Organization's American sec-
tion, as of March 31, on
reaching the organizatioh's
mandatory age of retire-
ment, was announced by
Isadore Hamlin, executive
director.
Levy, who has served, the
World Zionist Organization—
Jewish Agency for a decade,
was feted at a - party given
in his honor March- 29, -at-)
tended by many of his col-
leagues in English-Jewish
journalism and public rela-
tions, as well as the staff of
the WZO.
A graduate of New York
University School of Jour-
nalism in 1929, the veteran
publicist has been in the
Jewish field for over forty
years. Prior to assuming his
duties with the Jewish
Agency in 1963, he served as
public relations director of
the American Jewish Com-
mittee, Union of American
Hebrew Congregations, Jew-
ish War Veterans, National
Council of Jewish Women,
Dropsie College, Community
Federations and Welfare
Funds in Boston and Balti-
more and was an active
newspaperman as American
news editor of the Jewish
Telegraphic Agency and as
editor of the Philadelphia
Jewish Exponent., He will
continue to do free lance
work in public relations with
a number of organizations.
