Because the second day
of Passover will occur on
Monday, April 8, The
Jewish News will have an
early deadline for the is-
sue of Friday, April 12.
All copy must arrive at
The Jewish News office
by noon Friday, April 5.
If late copy is still usable,
it will be held for the fol-
lowing week.

Beth El Plans
Minyan for
-Men, Women

Temple Beth El will in-
augurate daily worship ser-
vices for men and women
beginning April 15.
Harvey Willens, president
of the congregation, said the
services will be held in the
chapel Monday through
Thursday, from 5:30 to 6
p.m. and Sunday mornings
from 9:30 to 10. They will be
conducted by members of the
congregation, and both men
and women will count in the
minyan.
Introduction of daily ser-
vices, will offer "an oppor-
tunity for mourners to say
Kadish and for others to find
spiritual enrichment in a
brief religious service each
afternoon," said Rabbi Rich-
ard C. Hertz. "It will be a
laymen's service in accord-
ance with good Jewish tra-
dition," he added.

Synagogue Remains
Believed 2nd Century

TEL AVIV — The remains
of a synagogue, probably dat-
ing from the Second Cen-
tury, have been discovered in
the vicinity of the ancient
town of Magdala, near Mig-
dal.
Prof. Virgilio Corbova, who
heads the Franciscan mon-
tastery at Capernaum, uncov-
ered rows of basalt stone
benches along the walls of
the ancient building which
had a mosaic floor and mar-
ble columns.

Service on Isaac Wise Anniversary

Congregagants of eight Re-
form Temples will gather at
the new Temple Beth El for
services 8:30 p.m. April 12
to mark the anniversary of
the birth of Rabbi Isaac M.
Wise, founder of the Ameri-
can Reform Jewish move-
ment.
This will be the second an-
nual Isaac M. Wise Shabat
Evening Service, sponsored
by the Metropolitan Detroit
Federation of Reform Syna-
gogues.
Guest speaker will be
Rabbi Balfour Brickner, di-
rector of the commission on
interfaith activities of the
Union of American Hebrew
Congregations.
Participants in the service

Prayer

on Behalf
of POWs Issued

Israel Chief Rabbi Shlomo
Goren has composed a spe-
cial prayer for the safety of
Israeli POWs in Syrian cap-
tivity. In time for Passover,
the Festival of Freedom, the
prayer will be distributed
free by the American Action
Committee for the Release of
Israeli POWs.
Rabbi Rubin R. Dobin, of
Lawrence, N.Y., committee
chairman, requested rabbis
of the United States to urge
their congregants to make it
part of their seder ritual.
The prayer, in Hebrew and
in English translation, will be
sent on request. A stamped,
self-addressed envelope
should be enclosed in the
envelope addressed to Rabbi
