Mizrachi to Hear
All About Aliya

The local Mizrachi Organ-
ization (Religious Zionists),
meeting 8 p.m. Sunday at
the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Selmar, 12800 Burton,
Oak Park, will hear Gideon
Biran, director of the Israel
Aliya Center, Michigan re-
gion.
He will discuss the increas-
ing emphasis on American
aliya and its importance to
Israel and American Jewry.
Refreshments will be served.
Arrangements were made by
the cultural and educational
group of Mizrachi.

this week as the co-chairmen
of the Histadrut dinner to be
held at Cobo Hall Feb. 12 in
honor of Governor William
G. Milliken.

son dinner will go to Hista-
drut - sponsored Afro - Asian
Endowment Fund, in accord-
ance with the wishes of the
governor.

indicated by the roles of the

Dr. Ned I. Chalat of Grosse
Pointe Park was installed as
the 90th president of the 3,500-
member Wayne County Medi-
cal Society. Dr. Chalat prac-
tices otolaryngology, special-
izing in ear, nose and throat
treatment.
In his inaugural address,
Dr. Chalat said, "I believe
that the purely scientific
compartmentalized approach
to the sick patient is no
longer adequate to provide
the quality of life which our
people seek." He will recom-
mend the establishment of a
special committee on "Social
Perspectives of Medicine" to
be charged with promoting
interest and improving the
quality of life in the com-
munity.
He received his undergrad-
uate and his MD degrees at
the University of Michigan
and served his residency at
Harper and Children's hos-
pitals.

AFL-CIO Sending Goodwill
Delegation to Israel
NEW YORK — George
Meany, president of the
American Federation of
Labor and Congress of In-
dustrial Organizations, has
named a five-man delegation
to make a goodwill visit to
Israel in response to an in-
vitation from Yerucham Me-
shel, acting secretary-general
of Histadrut, the Israel labor
federation. The group will
arrive in Tel Aviv Monday
to spend a week in the coun-
try.
Heading the delegation is
Lane Kirkland, secretary-
treasurer of • the AFL-CIO.
He will be accompanied by
Thomas W. Gleason, presi-
dent, International Long-
shoremen's Association; Mur-
ray Finley, president, Amal-
gamated Clothing Workers of
America; Robert Georgine,
secretary-treasurer, Building
Trades Department of the
AFL-CIO; and John W.

Schmitt, president, Wisconsin
State Federation of Labor,
AFL-CIO.
The group will be escorted
by Uzi Bloch, American rep-
resentative of the Histadrut

meeting in Miami in Febru-
