. . . While there, Iry caught
a Wha Hoo mackerel so big

night for all the guests in the
hotel . . . Reason for the
name is that's probably what
you say when catching it!
ELLOTT ROTT IS emer-

sector of Oak Park's probate
department . . . It is the only
court in Michigan (and may-
be the nation) with an inter-

thinks so much of the Oak

HITCHHIKING FROM San-
te Fe to Albuquerque, N. M.,
in the late afternoon, 22-year-
old Dennis Gould, son of Har-
riet and Ed Gould, wrote
home about finally. being
picked up by a man in a big
convertible . . . There was
little traffic, and they sped
along without much talk .. .
Suddenly the driver threw on
his brakes, stopped and then
hacked up for about 100
yards . . . Unlocking the
glove compartment, he pulled
out a revolver . . . While
Dennis froze in his seat too
scared to even yank open the
door and get away, the man
took aim out of his window
and shot twice . . . As he
put the gun away, he said,
"Son, never leave a rattler
on the road—alive!"
WHILE WAITING OUT-
SIDE a local market, Morton
Stone watched as a boy about
8 in the car parked alongside
his was wildly twisting the
steerinE.,, wheel and uttering
motor-like sounds . . Mortie
watched him awhile, then
leaned over and said, "Hey,
fellow you better stick your
arm out when you go around
a curve or you'll get a tic-
ket." . . . The lad looked at
Mortie scornfully .. "Look,
bob," he said, "you stick
your arm out a space ship
and you'll have it ripped
off."
