Problems of Aged, Poor Topic
of Sociologist at AJCongress Event

Dr. Eva Kahana, sociolo-
gist on the staff of Wayne
State University, will address
the opening meeting of the
women's division of American
Jewish Congress 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday at Hunter's Ridg.F>
Club House, Farmington. Dr.
Kahana will discuss "The
Problems of the Aged an:I
the Poor," with special ref-
erence to the Jewish com-
munity. A coffee hour will
precede her talk.
Dr. Kahana, director of the
Elderly Care Research Cen-
ter and associate professor
of sociology at WSU, has
done extensive research in
the problems of "aging." She
has studied problems of the
general community as well
as those affecting the Jewish
community.
Before joining the Wayne
faculty in fall 1971, Dr. Ka-
hana was research associate
and assistant professor in the
department of sociology and
the Medical Care Research
Center of Washington Uni-
versity, St. Louis. She worked
closely with the Jewish com-
munity there on the needs
and services for the aged.

The Greater Detroit Council
of Pioneer Women is spon-
soring the premiere presenta-
tion of the Israeli film "Ben-
Gurion Remembers" at 7:30
and 9:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the
Main Theater, Royal Oak.
The 90-minute color film
was produced and directed
by Simon Hesera.
According to David Z. Riv-
lin, Israel consul general in
New York, this is "a film

of stirring interest in this
period of our celebration of
Israel's founding 25 years
a g o . Sen-Gurion Remem-
bers' honors this event and
gives tribute to the visionary
and chief architect of Israel
reborn; a man who devoted
his life to the restoration of
Jewish freedom and security
in an independent Jewish
state."
