Rev. Rube Named
Associate Cantor
at Shaarey- Zedek
In recognition of his serv-
ices to the congregation, Rev.
Sidney Rube has been nam-
ed associate cantor at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek, Robert. Stein-
berg, president, announced
on behalf of the board of
trustees.
A native of Milwaukee,
Rev. Rube studied at the He-
b r e w Theological College
and at Roosevelt University
in Chicago. He came to
Shaarey Zedek as ritual di-
rector in 1966 after serving
-on2,- regations in Waco, Tex.,
rand Rapids and Lincoln,
Neb., where he was both
cantor and teacher. He also
is a mohel.
Rev. Rube and his wife
Esther have three children.

Kehilath Israel Synagogue,
Kansas City. He, his wife
Freda and three children live
in Oak Park.
The banquet is the culmin-
ation of a dedication week-
end, marking the comple-
tion of the Adat Shalom sanc-
tuary in Farmington.

will address a 6:30 p.m. Sha-
bat dinner Sept. 14.
At 9 a.m. services the fol-
lowing day, participants will
include Barbara Goldsmith
Levin, who is on the staff of
the Hebrew University; Rab-
bi Leon Waldman of Temple
Beth El, Fairfield, Conn.;
Cantor Robert Shapiro, musi-
cal director of Temple Bnai
Israel, Toledo, who will
chant the major portion of
the liturgy; Paul Schneider
and Daniel Shevitz, senior
rabbinical students, who will
be ordained next year by the
Jewish Theological Semin-
ary; and Earl Berris, a sec-
ond year student at the Can-
tors Institute, who also will
chant the Friday evening
service.

Saturday morning service,
which will be followed by a
congregational kidush.
