Nettie Bankle, 72

fit itirmoriam

February 23, 1973
Dear Evelyn,
Today is a day like every other day. The son rose.
The sun set. The moon showed itself at its appointed
time, and the myriads of stars in the heavens, too.
The universe, in its imperceptible and multitudinous
ways, aged another day. There was order.

But today is not a day like every other day, to those

of us who knew a girl named Evelyn Gaynor. She

dosed her eyes and left us, and the brightness of our
lives dimmed.

Acknowledges with
grateful appreciation
the many kind expres-
sions of sympathy ex.
tended by relatives and
friends during the fame
ily's recent bereave-
ment.

What was Evelyn? She was laughter and sunshine.
She was stability in times of chaos. She was succor
to the troubled. She was salve to humanity. She was
inspiration, she was courage, she was a free and
blithe spirit, who could not be imprisoned or pos.
sessed. She belonged to all of us, and to none of us.

The Family of the Late

Dear Evelyn, you asked me to write your eulogy.
This Is it. I hope it is worthy of you.
