Dinner Slated

Detroit Socialites will give
its annual New Year's Eve
dinner - dance 9 p.m. Dec. 31
at Berkley Masonic Temple.
A kosher dinner will be
served buffet style, and
music for dancing will be
provided by "The Music
Makers."
The community is wel-
come, but reservations must

The group also will at-
tend the final performance
of "Milk and Honey," 7:30
p.m. Sunday at the Jewish
Center.

Mikvah Israel and the
Women's Orthodox League

6:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at Shenan-
doah Country Club.

Guest speaker will be
Rabbi Samuel Stollman of
the Shaar Hashomayim syna-
gogue, Windsor. Entertain-
ment will be by Ben-Zion
Shenker of New York, artist,
composer and singer.

Auditions to Open
for 'Awake and Sing'

Auditions for "Awake and
Sing," the second production
of the season by Center
Theater, will be held 8 p.m.
Monday, Tueseday and Wed-
nesday at the Jewish Center.
The play, to be directed
by Evelyn Orbach, director
of broadcasting for the Jew-
ish Community Council, is
Clifford Odets' story of the
struggle of a Jewish family
in the Depression. There are
parts for seven men (six
adults and one juvenile) and
two women (one adult and
one ingenue). Performance
dates are Feb. 10-11, 14-15
and 17.
Reading scripts are avail-
able at the Center library.
